Normalcy - Finally!!!

Wow cant believe that 9 months have gone by since the surgery. I am finally a relieved man!!! Have been gone a long while .. My apologies to those who were looking for an update on this ...so a quick flash back since my last post

The last time i posted i mentioned about some loose rawish tags that werent healing. I stopped posting since cause i was in a pretty unhappy state of mind for the months that i didnt post and wanted to ignore all of this and focus on school instead.
In december I had gotten in touch with my doc via email and even sent him some pics to analyse the matter.. Apparently i had something called excessive granulation tissue. My doc said that it was basically healing tissue and since it was in excess it would have to be trimmed. Now since Im studying abroad i wasnt sure about the kind of insurance coverage I have and honestly didnt want to get this done in the middle of a school term. So i asked my doc if it could wait till i came back to India for the summers in April and have him trim it himself. He said it was a minor issue and if i could live with the discomfort until then it should be ok to wait. So i did just that .. I waited. Booked my flight tickets and counted the days down. Cant begin to express how desperate i was to feel normal again and be able to shower and wash my penis without having those areas burn.
April finally arrived and i returned home for a couple of weeks desperately hoping to get ths over with and put everything behind. I visited my doc, he had me pull my pants off and saw the issue. Right there and then he put on his gloves and applied a mild numbing gel. He said he that it was a 2 minute job and he would trim it off. It was slightly painful but not intolerable. I didnt have the guts to look down. When he was done he asked me to look and told me it was fine but i didnt look as i was too terrified. He bandaged me up and told me that i would be totally fine. I just had to apply some medicated powder to the area for a couple of days. Given the last 9 months i was skeptical but hoped for the best.

I did what the doc asked and within a few days i was totally fine. I could shower without the burning sensation. The extra tissue was gone and my penis was looking normal and healthy. I was on top of the world. During my follow up visit the doc said i could now engage safely in sexual activity as well and i was thrilled and even got to take it out for a test drive few days after :)

Now, I must say that the glans has become quite insensitive and its good to not have that hyper sensitive feeling anymore but i also realise that it has reduced the sexual feeling as well. But honestly its not like how some sites report that .. its not like the penis is dead or anything .. it just maybe a little less sensitive. But i dont care about that.. cause my medical issue anyway prevented a normal sex life and now i can do whatever i want ..so what if i have lost some sensitivity .. its not that big a deal.. being sexually intimate without the fear of hurting myself itself gives me a high.

So here i am pretty much closing this chapter of my life. Its been a long journey literally filled with blood, sweat and tears. I had the support of some wonderful people during the tough times which helped me get through. But i wouldnt wish this on anyone and hope everyone out there does not have exceptions like me and are able to heal in the 4-6 weeks window. Good luck to every guy out there who is going to get circumcised. Again i just want to say that my case was an exception and please done let it scare you into avoiding the procedure if it is medically necessary.

I do hope my story has been helpful to whoever has stumbled on this blog! Adios!!

  1. Hey Paul, I just read your entire story and I wanted to thank you for doing this. I've read other blogs and they were helpful too but seeing as I'm also a 25 year old who had phimosis, your blog was especially helpful. Tomorrow will make one week since my circumcision and I'm still feeling sensitivity on the head as well as pain from the stitches (both of which are keeping me inactive for now). I know your 9 month recovery isn't the norm but even if mine does take longer than usual, I'll feel more comfortable with it now that I've read your experience. So thanks again!

    1. Hi Julien, wish you good luck with the recovery process. The first week and a half is the hardest after which things go back to normal. I'm glad you found my posts helpful and maybe it even abated some of the fears (of the unknown). If you ever feel something does'nt feel right just make a quick visit to your doc. Wish you a healthy and speedy recovery. Cheers!

    1. Thanks im glad you found the blog useful. I think its back to what it was before but im not really sure because i have no frame of reference anymore.
I still feel its thicker and slightly smaller than before but not a significant difference really,
I think yours would go back to normal too after 1-3 months post op. Good luck and hope the recovery process is going well for you

  3. Hey man, I live in Melbourne, AUS. I am 20 and just got circumcised on 26/10/2015. I got my bandage off today and I see the knot (ending bit) of the dissolvable stitches. My doctor said they should dissolve, but I doubted as it's sticking out like a small loop.
Anyway, as most it is painful at night time erections. How do you deal with erections? How long before you don't feel over-sensitive for your glands? My head is not too sensitive but the area behind the head and the under-foreskin are sensitive as hell.
I am just using a paper cup to cover my dick and balls for now. Also I go to gym too, does the protein shakes help recovery as I have them at home.

    Thanks!

    1. Hi there, sorry for the late reply. I haven't been checking the page too frequently. I hope you are fully recovered by now.
Can't do much about night time erections. Just have to deal with it and when you wake up in pain pinch other parts of your body to divert the pain. It took about 3 weeks for the hyper sensitivity to go down for me.
As for protein shakes I just had them on a daily basis but I really can't say if it did anything to speed up my circ recovery.

      Cheers!

    1. Hey I am the comment above who got circumcised on 26/10/15 so I can answer all your questions.
Of course it will be sensitive for at least 2 weeks especially the back part of the head. After the surgery u wont get erection during the day because of the pain and emotional trouble. But at night erection would hurt and u will see blood next morning. I did all the cleaning and caring properly and stayed home. I can even play indoor soccer after 3 weeks!

    2. Hello Karan,
To echo the above reply, you will feel the hypersensitivity for 2-3 weeks. Unfortunately there is no way around it. But after that everything will be fine and you can resume all activities like sports, exercise etc.

  5. Hey Paul,
It's such a relief to read your experiences as someone who had gone through what I'm experiencing now. I circumcised 5 days ago, unfortunately I too was ignorant about the cut styles and got myself low and loose cut. The shaft skin where it fuses with the gland is exactly looking what you've described. Doc took off the bandage and rebandaged on the 3rd day, it didn't last long, so the next day I gave it a salt water dip, rebandaged with betadine ointment. But now it burns and pains like hell. The glands are extremely sensitive to the point I jump in shock if it touches anything. I couldn't wear anything except Lungi. I also seeing a white layer beginning to form in my glands. Very very unhappy and frustrated right now. Any advice is highly appreciated, thank you

    1. Hi there,
I expect that by now you should be healing quite well. The white layer was probably just keratinization of the glans due to exposure. I would say keep yourself occupied with other activities to keep your mind from only focusing on your penis. If at anytime things don't feel right just follow your gut and visit your doctor. Hope you in a happier and healthier place by now.

  6. Hey Paul. I had my surgery done 10 days ago. 10 days have passed. I can sleep peacefully these days without the painful erections. But I am worried about the appearance. The frenulum part doesn't look good. It would have been better if you would have posted pics or something of the entire healing process.

    1. Hello,
Yes the. Frenulum takes the longest to look normal again. For me I still remember it looking like some creature from an alien movie for more than a month lol. So don't worry about it too much. It will heal in time.

  9. Hey man, I'm not sure if you'll even check this but your diary helped me a lot. I'm 24 days into my journey lost circ and the stitches seem to be healing nicely. However, I still have a big amount of swelling, this hasn't really reduced. Was there a point where you could tell it was going down? Because I really can't tell anymore, I feel like I'm a long way from recovery.
